Toyota Motor Corp's president will brief Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and other government ministers on Monday on the carmaker's plans to improve quality control after a string of safety issues led to a massive vehicle recall.
Toyota President Akio Toyoda will meet Hatoyama at 0700 GMT, a source at the prime minister's office said.
Toyoda will also meet Transport Minister Seiji Maehara at 0800 GMT and Trade Minister Masayuki Naoshima at 0945 GMT, those ministries said.
A Toyota spokesman declined to say which ministers Toyoda would meet, or what time the meetings would take place. But he said Toyoda would provide an informal report to several ministers after his trips to the United States and China to explain the automaker's plans to improve quality management.
Toyota is reeling from a safety crisis that has seen it recall more than 8.5 million vehicles worldwide. Toyoda testified at a U.S. congressional hearing about the safety issues last month, followed by a visit to China to ease quality concerns in the world's biggest car market.
