Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 11) - Toyota Motor China Investment, on behalf of parent company Toyota Motor, has filed a recall order with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine targeting Lexus RX300s imported from 2004 to 2005. The recall affects 426 RX300s in China, with production dates between June 1, 2004 and May 31, 2005.

The RX300 (pictured) is being recalled due to poor adhesive used in the crankshaft pulley, which causes the shaft to strip and the pulley to idle, leading to static and safety system alerts. In extreme situations, the shaft could hit the auxiliary pump, causing the driver to lose control.

Toyota Motor China has sent information to affected owners requesting them to return their vehicles to the closest Lexus dealer for free maintenance and repair. According to Toyota, the entire replacement procedure should only take slightly more than an hour and a half.
