Shanghai January 4 (Gasgoo.com) Toyota Motor Corp. will import its two-door hatchback sedan, the Scion tC, to the Chinese market this year, targeting mainly the younger people, reported auto.163.com.

The Scion tC will be sold under the name, Zelas, in China through the sales channels of Guangzhou Toyota, the Japanese automaker's joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd (GAC).

To fully embody the sporty element of the car, Toyota did not use the chassis of the North American version of Camry, but borrowed that of the European mid-size car Avensis for the Scion tC, and equipped it with the famous 2AZ-FE engine plus a 4AT/5MT combination. Much younger than the Toyota Camry Solara Coupe, the Scion tC will also be available with a lot of optional parts, including a TRD supercharger that increases power output by 25 percent.

The second generation version of the Scion tC is powered by a 2.5L 180bhp four cylinder engine, according to sources. Toyota has not yet announced any pricing for the Scion tC, but it is expected to be less than 300,000 yuan ($46,000), China Car Times said.
