Toyota Motor Corp. (7203) said Thursday that it will begin domestic sales Dec. 4 of the FJ Cruiser, a sport utility vehicle already available in the U.S., the Middle East and Africa.
Toyota will target young people who love outdoor activities. With a 4-liter engine, the four-wheel-drive vehicle can push its way through rocky off-road stretches and cross streams. The SUV features large control buttons to make them easy to operate even with gloves on.
The FJ Cruiser has been popular among young Americans.
The SUV will be manufactured at a Hino Motors Ltd. (7205) plant in Hamura, Tokyo, and sold at Toyota dealerships. The standard price range is from 3.14 million yen to 3.32 million yen.
