Gasgoo Munich- Hongqi, in collaboration with CNET, has completed performance testing on a co-developed ultra-fast charging battery at 25°C. According to an official release from China FAW, the battery charges from 10% to 70% state-of-charge (SOC) in just 3 minutes and 41 seconds, while a 10% to 97% charge takes 8 minutes and 3 seconds—metrics that are considered industry-leading.

The core of this breakthrough lies in 12C ultra-fast charging cell technology. By employing a high-efficiency ultra-fast charging anode, the battery overcomes charging rate bottlenecks. Meanwhile, a proprietary electrolyte with low desolvation energy helps lower lithium ion migration barriers. Furthermore, innovative applications of composite carbon source coating and bulk-phase doping modification have reduced internal resistance by 15% compared to similar products, aiming to boost charge transmission efficiency and response speed.

On the thermal management front, the battery integrates an intelligent uniform-temperature liquid cooling system. The company claims that during fast charging, the temperature difference across the entire pack is kept within 3°C. Paired with a full-scenario hierarchical temperature control strategy, the system adapts to conditions ranging from driving to parking, ensuring the battery remains in its optimal operating zone while cutting energy consumption for thermal management.

Regarding charging safety and intelligent control, the system utilizes a fast-charging adaptive strategy based on safety boundaries. This approach monitors and limits cell temperature rise rates in real time while dynamically adjusting the charging power curve. It also performs real-time closed-loop verification of cell voltage and charge levels—measures designed to algorithmically prevent overcharging and overvoltage, establishing multi-layer safety protection for high-power fast charging.

Hongqi stated that the successful validation of this ultra-fast charging technology marks a significant phased breakthrough in power battery innovation. Looking ahead, the brand says it will continue to prioritize technological innovation as a core driver to meet increasingly diverse mobility needs.
