Associated Press - General Motors Co. will invest $100 million and add 30 jobs at the company's auto parts plant in Rochester, N.Y.
General Motors said Tuesday that the investment will update four product lines produced at its Components Holdings Rochester operation.
The company will update its integrated air module product line, a new high-pressure fuel rail, a new lifter oil manifold assembly and a new direct injection device.
"This investment in our manufacturing operations will enable us to produce a new generation of fuel-efficient small block car and truck engines," General Motors Vice-President of Labor Relations Cathy Clegg said in a statement.
The parts made in Rochester will be shipped to GM Powertrain plants in Tonawanda, N.Y., St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada and Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.
The 30 new jobs will be added to the existing work force of 826 hourly and salaried employees in Rochester.
Shares of General Motors rose five cents to $30.82 in morning trading.
