Shanghai, July 29 (Gasgoo.com) Visteon Corporation today began showcasing its latest technology demonstration vehicle, the “C-Beyond,” for vehicle manufacturers and media in China. The vehicle features more than 40 innovative technologies in climate systems, infotainment and connectivity, and interior and exterior lighting.

Demonstrating Visteon’s latest developments and concepts, the C-Beyond represents Visteon’s vision of how seamless connectivity and sustainable mobility may influence the way consumers use and interact with the next generation of vehicles. Visteon will preview the vehicle with automakers in China in August, demonstrating the company’s innovation process and capabilities.

In developing the C-Beyond, Visteon incorporated insights gathered from automakers and consumers through its proprietary research methodologies.

The advanced technologies are all designed in user-friendly and ergonomic HMI, which enhances connectivity and also supports driver attentiveness. In addition, enhanced personalization and individual comfort features for all occupants promote new ways of enjoying and connecting to the vehicle.

Advanced Connectivity Features
The C-Beyond concept evolves traditional cockpit electronics from a driver information function to “driver coaching,” and uses connectivity features for remote or on-board configuration, advanced navigation with pre-journey planning, and real-time traffic updates.
Also featured is Visteon’s infotainment and Internet platform, which is a scalable solution with audio, consumer device connectivity, media manager, navigation, rear seat infotainment and voice control. The platform is based on an open system architecture which is compatible with the major consumer electronics standards such as Linux.
Several users can interact with the vehicle simultaneously and passengers can use DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and wireless connectivity to share content on mobile devices. Visteon is also introducing an automotive “app” download for iPod®-based (iPhone®, iTouch®) applications, enabling mobile consumer devices to become remote controls for the vehicle’s front or rear infotainment system.
Automotive craftsmanship and precision interfaces are at the core of Visteon’s electronics integration capabilities. Visteon’s precision mechanics are designed to radically reduce “wobble and sticking” in knobs and buttons, and enable the implementation of low-cost switch solutions.
The C-beyond seamlessly incorporates technology into the cockpit design by merging digital and mechanical functions into a flat reconfigurable display with 3D form and function by using adaptable light guides that re-use light from the thin-film transistor display.
To manage the need for multiple user interfaces that can change depending on the vehicle mode, user or feature content, Visteon has developed adaptable HMI features. When the vehicle is stationary, the driver can browse the Internet and watch video, but when the vehicle is in driving mode, it reverts back to a simple interface.
Individual profiles can be stored and loaded on entry to the vehicle and occupants can set their personal preferences for lighting, central locking and workload management (e.g. accept incoming calls or texts).
Unique Personal Comfort Features
The C-Beyond introduces Visteon's unique vertical air flow concept that creates four discrete, vertical air flow zones. The roof-mounted registers force air flow from top to bottom within the occupants’ personal zone for fully customized comfort and temperature control, compared with traditional front-to-rear cabin air flow.Visteon’s adaptive climate controls automatically adapt to the number and location of occupants, and help save energy by deactivating in unoccupied zones.
Vertical air flow eliminates traditional instrument panel registers, thus freeing significant packaging space in the cockpit area to allow for additional styling options. The system is complemented by Visteon's ultra-flat heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) architecture, which can be mounted on or under the floor pan, saving additional cockpit space. Vertical climate controls provide an independent interface for an automatic dual or quad zone AC system to select temperature, fan speed and air flow distribution.
Visteon’s vertical air flow concept is suitable for both electric and conventional vehicles and does not require architectural changes to the HVAC module.
Interior Ambience
The C-Beyond exhibits a high level of perceived quality with simple forms and a visibly lighter instrument panel architecture. By redistributing traditional interior elements − including dedicated controls, storage, comfort and air distribution features − these concepts allow passengers to create their own personal zones. Ample use of ambient lighting creates a comfortable space for all occupants.
Adjustable interior lighting features create a night and day ambience using Visteon’s latest technologies for proximity sensing, multicolor LEDs, indirect lighting and backlighting of materials forcomplete personalization with light.
Distinctive Exterior and Lighting Features:
The C-Beyond is equipped with Visteon’s proprietary high-intensity headlamp LED projector module that provides all main beam patterns.Its compact dimensions, low weight and optical performance − which are on par with today's HID technology − make the modulethe basic building block of future full-LED headlamps.
Visteon's camera-driven, adaptive high-beam system switches automatically between high and low beams according to the flow of passing and oncoming traffic. In addition, the system offers a glare-free mode that enables the lamps to continuously operate in high-beam mode with programmable shutters that reduce the light pattern for oncoming vehicles.
Other advanced lighting features include Visteon's sequential turn indicator, which provides distinctive features for front and rear turn indicator functionality. Daytime running lights accentuate the outline of the headlamp and provide an easily recognized brand signature for the car. Solid light guides also offer additional styling options with reduced power consumption through the efficient optical design and use of LEDs.
