Shanghai, May 14 (Gasgoo.com) Volkswagen (Dalian) Automatic Transmission Company was officially put into operation on 11th May. This base has not only become the only outside Germany DSG gearbox production plant, but also marks VW's attainment of its goal “20% reduction of fuel consumption and emission on its Chinese car models”, set by “China Powertrain Strategy”.
For the realization of “China Powertrain Strategy”, VW put its TSI turbocharged direct injection gasoline engine into production in Dalian, Shanghai and Changchun first. With the DSG in production, the localization of core components, the upgrade of brands and production line are fully started this year, testified by the popularity of Magotan, Tiguan and Golf 6.
The DSG production base in Dalian, which produces seven-speed gearbox at the moment, has an initial investment of 170 million euros. Its annual production capacity will rise to 600,000 units in the future from its current 300,000 units. “This is a very important landmark for Volkswagen autos” said Stefan Jacoby, VW's president and CEO in China.
In order to widely apply and promote its advanced powertrain technology, VW (China) has decided to extend the warranty of its DSG gearbox in the Chinese market to 4 years or 150,000 kilometers. All of this fully demonstrates VW's strong confidence in DSG's reliability and durability and its solemn commitment to delivering maximum profits to its costumers.
