Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 15) - Volkswagen is planning to manufacture more electric models in the country, dfdaily.com reported today. Yang Meihong, vice president of VW China, said that the manufacturer was planning on introducing EVs in the same segment as the Golf.

Reports are circulating that the first batch of the electric Golfs may be made within China. Mrs. Yang added to the media circus by saying that domestic manufacture of similar models was in the cards. "The technology [in the Golf] may be used to make other models," she said.

The electric Golf, which is currently making rounds as transport vehicles for the National Museum (pictured), will begin testing in major cities across the country later this year.
