It is reported that Weichai Group Holdings Ltd will launch strategic press meeting on Oct.1 which will not only elaborate Yangtze River Delta business but also the mostly concerned passenger car sector layout.
Weichai group related manager told reporters, in the area of vehicle, Weichai will form the commercial vehicle layout with Yangzhou, Jiangsu as the core in the future , as well as the passenger car layout with Chongqing as its core.
It is reported that Weichai will unveil its first passenger car at the end of 2013, which is positioned as small urban SUV, produced in Chongqing, and will be formally launched on sales in 2014.
Product testing for new models has been basically completed. News from Weichai shows that this small town SUV is expected to be officially unveiled at the end of the year, the characteristics of which will continue to be differentiation of market segments, including home use MPV, CUV, high-quality cars and pickup trucks and other vehicles.
Horizon research consultancy group Center for automotive research analysts believe that commercial vehicle market is basically in a mature stage and the passenger car market, while narrowing, but is still in the more profitably growing up stage, hence the capita is to be transferred to the passenger car market. But during the process of Commercial vehicle enterprises’entry into the passenger car market, faced with many challenges, such as technology, talent and brand, markets are not easy to obtain.
In fact, the field of own-brand passenger cars is in the progress of "shuffle the cards". Having experienced rapid growth, its new round of competition will be focused on technological upgrading and branding, which may be is the short of commercial vehicles.
Weichai's first small SUV model, as growing market segments, has been fully competitive in the market: whether the own-brands or the joint venture brands, both will treat this market as important motivator to boost sales pitches, so in terms of technology and brands, the latecomers’ advantage is actually not very obvious.
