Sergio Marchionne still thinks about its JEEP China made project when he announces the latest 5 years plan of Fiat-Chrysler on May 6 investor conference.
Marchionne, as the CEO of Fiat-Chrysler, shall focus on Chinese market in the next 5 years. JEEP China mad project is one of the most important projects. It has prepared for 1 year already, but dispute between Chrysler and GAC are not stopped.
The biggest dispute is the location of JEEP plant Guangzhou or Changsha. Sales of JEEP shall be included into joint venture of GAC- Chrysler or needs a new sales company?
On April 19, GAC, Fiat and Chrysler have announced their “JEEP China made project plan”, but the biggest 2 disputes mentioned above are not included in the short announcement. On May 9, relative staff of GAC and Chrysler still hold different opinion onto the two disputes, even kind of distinct from each other. Both teams wait to have a finally round negotiation on table.
Marchionne is more worried than both sides. The sales goal of JEEP aim 500 thousands cars up to year 2018. However, according to the plan now, “although still under negotiation, foundation is close.” JEEP China made shall roll off line up to the end of year 2015.
On April 19, GAC, Fiat and Chrysler announced their China made plan. “the framework today is the extend of the foundation of GAC-Fiat cooperation. GAC- Fiat will set plant in Guangzhou to fulfill the enough capacity and introduce necessary modes. JEEP will be produced here.” But the announcement does not answer the location of JEEP plant in the front.
Relative staff of Chrysler tells reporter that “it is confirmed to take Guangzhou and Changsha as plant location. Both bases will response for JEEP manufacture, but modes produced by them do not decided yet.” meanwhile, staff of GAC provides total different response. “All the 3 modes will be produced in Guangzhou. Whether or not include Changsha side doe not decided yet. Possibility is still there, because modes shall introduced into China sucessively.”
