Wuhan ETDZ Intelligent Connected and Electric Vehicle Industrial Park (West Zone) Construction Begins

Gasgoo Munich-Citing the official "Wuhan ETDZ" WeChat account, Gasgoo reports that construction officially began on August 25 for the West Zone of the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone's (Wuhan ETDZ) Intelligent Connected and Electric Vehicle Industrial Park. The ceremony also marked the unveiling of the Wuhan ETDZ-Hanchuan Co-construction Zone and Hubei Chegu Jinma Investment.

A joint venture between Wuhan ETDZ and Hanchuan City, the West Zone serves as a flagship hub for the Wuhan metropolitan area. It operates on the same industrial chain as the main Wuhan ETDZ Smart Auto Park, ensuring seamless integration.

Located in Makou Town, Hanchuan City, the park spans a planned area of 1.84 square kilometers. Development is staged in three tiers: an initial 365 mu, a medium-term 2,753 mu, and a long-term 10,000 mu. The first phase involves a total investment of roughly 1.5 billion yuan and will be built in two stages, starting with production plants, R&D offices, and supporting amenities.

Strategically, the park will zero in on new energy and intelligent connected vehicle components. Its five core pillars include functional materials for smart cockpits, interior and exterior trim, electrical system parts, lightweight body materials, and chassis structural components.

Simultaneously, the site is cultivating five emerging sectors—advanced materials, automotive semiconductors, industrial robotics components, new energy storage, and smart home tech. The goal is to build an "Auto+" ecosystem where vehicle and parts production syncs with R&D.

The partners have established a joint command center and Hubei Chegu Jinma Investment to oversee the entire lifecycle—from planning and investment attraction to corporate services. The first batch of tenants is expected to move in by June of next year.

During the event, four auto parts makers—including Zhenyi Electronics and Foyi Technology—signed agreements to locate in the West Zone. The co-construction zone also inked deals with Dongfeng Motor’s industry collaboration office, Changjiang Securities, Minsheng Financial Leasing, the Agricultural Bank of China’s Xiaogan branch, Wuhan ETDZ Investment Group, and the Wuhan ETDZ Future Technology Innovation Research Institute.

The Wuhan ETDZ Smart Auto Park serves as the core engine of the "Chegu" Industrial Innovation Corridor. Following the July 31 groundbreaking of the North Zone, the launch of the West Zone completes a three-park development matrix. This differentiated structure is designed to channel industrial resources from Chegu toward southwest Wuhan, fostering coordinated growth and cross-regional collaboration.
