Gasgoo Munich- XPENG reported deliveries of 32,158 vehicles in May 2026, continuing the company's strong momentum in China's increasingly competitive new-energy vehicle market.

A major contributor to that momentum was the launch of the new XPENG GX on May 20. Positioned as the company's flagship technology-focused vehicle, the model entered the market with both battery-electric and extended-range powertrain options across eight variants.
According to XPENG, the GX secured 24,863 firm orders within 12 hours of launch, with the flagship Ultra trim accounting for more than 80% of reservations. The model is viewed as a key component of XPENG's ongoing push into higher-end market segments and an important step in elevating the brand's positioning.
XPENG also reached a significant autonomous-driving milestone in May with the start of mass production for what it describes as China's first factory-installed, mass-produced Level 4 Robotaxi developed entirely in-house by an automaker.
Built on the GX platform, the Robotaxi is equipped with four proprietary Turing AI chips that deliver 3,000 TOPS of effective onboard computing power. XPENG said the system achieves response latency below 80 milliseconds and is capable of operating without reliance on high-definition maps or LiDAR, enabling broader deployment across multiple cities. Limited public-road Level 4 testing is already underway in Guangzhou, with demonstration operations scheduled to begin during the third quarter.
Software development remained another key focus during the month. XPENG began rolling out its XOS 6.2.0 update to vehicles equipped with the company's Turing AI chips, including Ultra, Ultra SE, Max and MONA Plus variants.
The update introduces the second iteration of XPENG's second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) architecture for Ultra and Ultra SE models, bringing enhancements to core driving capabilities and ride comfort. Meanwhile, the company's navigation-assisted driving system has expanded its navigation-free roaming functions beyond public roads to include parking garages and private campuses, broadening the range of environments where XPENG's NGP intelligent driving system can operate continuously.
Earlier this year, XPENG put the 2026 MONA M03 onto the market, adding a new Max version powered by the Turing AI chip and an Ultra SE variant capable of supporting the second-generation VLA architecture. The launch marked the completion of XPENG's transition toward deploying its proprietary Turing chip technology across its entire vehicle lineup.
The company's international business also continued to expand rapidly. Overseas deliveries of the P7+ began in April, helping XPENG's monthly overseas sales surpass 6,000 units for the first time.
By the end of the first quarter, XPENG had established a presence in more than 60 countries and regions, supported by a global sales network of 393 outlets. Management expects international operations to contribute more than 20% of total revenue beginning in the second quarter. Looking ahead, XPENG plans to launch four global models during the second half of the year and aims to maintain overseas monthly sales above 10,000 units by the fourth quarter, while more than doubling full-year international deliveries.
Financially, XPENG reported improving profitability and continued investment in future technologies. In its first-quarter 2026 earnings report released on May 28, the company posted a gross margin of 20.6%, up five percentage points from a year earlier.
Revenue from services and other businesses reached 2.03 billion yuan, representing year-on-year growth of 41.2%, while research and development spending climbed 46.8% from a year earlier to 2.91 billion yuan. XPENG ended the quarter with 42.09 billion yuan in cash reserves.
For the second quarter, the automaker expects vehicle deliveries to range between 100,000 and 106,000 units, representing quarter-on-quarter growth of 59.54% to 69.11%. Revenue is projected to reach between 19.6 billion yuan and 20.8 billion yuan, up 50.38% to 59.59% from the previous quarter.
XPENG's charging infrastructure continued to expand alongside its vehicle business. As of May 31, the company's charging network covered more than 430 cities across China. XPENG operated over 3,600 self-owned charging stations, including more than 3,100 ultra-fast charging facilities, further strengthening the ecosystem supporting its growing customer base.
