Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 24) - Despite suffering sales setbacks last year, Dongfeng's joint venture Zhengzhou Nissan will continue plans for domestic production of Japanese brand Nisan vehicles, the Shanghai Securities Journal reported today, citing a statement made by Dongfeng Motor General Manager Yang Qing at the company's stockholder conference yesterday. The joint venture's annual production capacity is expected to reach 200,000 vehicles over the next three years.

Dongfeng Motors is the most one of the most important parts of the Dongfeng family, with its key focus being production of light commercial vehicles and engines. Mr. Yang explains that the Diaoyu Island incident last July greatly affected the performance of its subsidiary Zhengzhou Nissan joint venture, with its sales falling 20,000 units. Its sales performance may continue to be affected this year. Despite this, Dongfeng is committed to the domestic production of Zhengzhou Nissan vehicles, with plans to increase the JV's annual production capacity to 200,000 units unchanged.
