Gasgoo Munich-China’s industries with a global competitive edge accelerated their expansion in the first half of the year, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on July 20. In the intelligent robotics sector, quadruped robots developed in China now command nearly 70% of global sales. Meanwhile, the country has rolled out more than 400 humanoid robot models—surpassing half of the world’s total.
The MIIT noted that a wave of global unicorns has emerged in sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, new energy, and biomedicine. These companies are actively contributing Chinese solutions to the development of international standards and industrial governance.
Notably, during the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) joined forces with other departments to release two key initiatives: the "Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Development Action Plan" and the "China Intelligence · Benefiting the World (2026)" case collection. These releases highlight China’s contributions and solutions to the global advancement of AI.
The "Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Development Action Plan" is designed to implement President Xi Jinping’s directive that "artificial intelligence should be an international public product benefiting all of humanity." It outlines eight key actions covering data, computing power, ecosystems, empowerment, talent, regulations, governance, and ethics. These include ensuring high-quality data supply, making intelligent computing power inclusive, sharing open-source ecosystems, deepening AI empowerment, jointly cultivating digital talent, co-building rules and standards, collaborating on security governance, and promoting AI for good. The initiative serves as a practical response to United Nations calls for stronger international AI cooperation, bridging the digital divide, and using AI to drive sustainable development.
The "China Intelligence · Benefiting the World (2026)" case collection marks the third consecutive year the NDRC has released this report. It compiles 10 compelling stories illustrating China’s international cooperation efforts in the field of artificial intelligence.
As technology across the domestic supply chain continues to advance, the humanoid robot industry has entered a new phase driven by both mass production and commercialization. Although China’s embodied intelligence sector is still in its infancy, the market scale is expanding rapidly. Data projects that the market size of China's embodied intelligence industry will reach 400 billion yuan by 2030, with the potential to surpass 1 trillion yuan by 2035.
