CATL Partners with Egypt's BME to Assist Local Battery Pack Production
CATL has officially signed a cooperation agreement with Egyptian battery manufacturer BME. Under the deal, CATL will assist BME in assembling and producing battery packs locally in Egypt, filling a gap in the country's domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Building on an initial agreement to procure battery cells, CATL will now provide BME with battery pack technology licensing, production equipment, and training services. The factory, fully funded by BME, has a planned annual capacity of 1 GWh and will primarily produce power batteries for heavy commercial vehicles. Once operational, BME will supply local automakers directly.
Ecarx Vehicle Installations Exceed 12 Million
Ecarx Tech announced on September 17 that its smart technology solutions have now been integrated into more than 12 million vehicles worldwide, according to Gasgoo. The company's partnerships span 18 OEMs and 28 brands, with its technology deployed across 159 countries and regions.
In the first half of 2026 alone, Ecarx added 914,000 new installations. Its roster of partners includes major domestic and international automakers such as Geely Auto, FAW Hongqi, smart, Lotus, Polestar, Volvo Cars, Renault, and Volkswagen.
GAC's self-operated charging piles surpass 30,000; total holdings rank first among automakers
GAC Group announced on September 17 that its subsidiary, GAC Energy, has surpassed 30,000 self-operated charging piles — a total that now stands at 30,835, putting the automaker at the top of the industry. Notably, 21,324 of these are DC ultra-fast charging units supporting 1,000V high-voltage platforms and single-connector power exceeding 180kW, accounting for nearly 70% of the total.
