BAIC expects own brands to make up at least 60% of its sales volume in 2015

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 20) - Beijing Automotive Group announced that it plans to sell four million vehicles in 2015, with own brand models constituting 60 to 70 percent of that number, Beijing News reported today. According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, BAIC sold a total of 1.49 million vehicles in 2010, 888,900 vehicles short of fourth best selling manufacturer Changan.

For many years now, BAIC was the largest Chinese manufacturer that didn't have sell brand passenger automobiles. BAIC President Han Yonggui recently told the media that he is participating in internal discussion on how to develop the manufacturer's own brand business. On that note, the manufacturer has seen great success with the Weiwang microvan (pictured), which was launched last year.

BAIC is now among the world's 15 largest automobile manufacturers, and is listed among the world's 500 largest multinational companies.
