China's automobile output and sales exceeded 700,000 vehicles in January '07

According to the China Automobile Industry Association statistics, China's auto output reached 761,900 units in January, up 12.60% compared with last month, an 45.03% increase year-on-year; sales were up by 717,100 units, down 5.47% than last month, a 34.27% rise year-on-year. The growth rate of passenger vehicles sales is still higher than that of commercial vehicles.

The top ten automobile manufacturers'sales in January were as follows: SAIC, FAW, Dongfeng, Chang'an, BAIC, GAIC, Chery, Hafei, Brilliance and Geely, with sales 137,500 units, 113,200 units, 92,400 units, 67,700 units, 52,400 units, 38,700 units, 37,200 units, 23,800 units, 23,800 units and 23,100 units respectively. Compared with the previous month, GAIC, Hafei and Brilliance maintained a certain growth, while others dropped; compared with the same period last year, Chang'an and Hafei showed a slight decline, other enterprises were growing faster. Brilliance growth increased significantly. The 10 enterprises total vehicle sales were 609,800 in January, accounting for 85.04% of total domestic auto sales.
