Great
Wall Motor Co.'s sales jumped 31 percent year on year to 104,844
vehicles last month on strong volume generated by the Haval H6 compact
crossover.
Sales of the H6, China's top-selling crossover, soared 51 percent from a year earlier to 56,667 vehicles.
Deliveries of the Haval H2, a subcompact crossover, rose 26 percent to
exceed 21,000 vehicles. Sales of the Haval H7, a compact crossover that
was introduced in April, totaled 6,134 vehicles.
By contrast, demand for the company's two large SUVs, the Haval H8 and
H9, remained modest. Only 501 H8s and 928 H9s were delivered in October.
Overall, Great Wall sold 94,005 crossovers and SUVs in October, up 19
percent from a year earlier. The company also delivered 8,419 pickups
and 2,420 sedans.
For the first ten months, Great Wall's sales rose 19 percent year on year to 794,836 vehicles.
If the company can maintain the current pace of deliveries, Great Wall
is likely to become the No. 2 Chinese brand to achieve annual sales of 1
million units. Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. was the first to do so,
in 2015, with sales of 1.1 million units.
Great Wall, China's largest crossover manufacturer, is based in the
north China city of Baoding and is listed in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
