GAC Trumpchi June sales drop 14.43% year on year

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group announced that the company delivered a total of 178,962 vehicles in June, achieving a year-on-year growth of 4.62%. In the first half of 2018, the group's cumulative car sales reached 1,016,779 units, climbing 5.53% over the previous year.

GAC Motor saw its June sales dropping 14.43% from a year ago with 37,105 vehicles delivered. For the first six months, the automaker's sales rose 6.9% year on year to 268,204 units, completing 38.31% of its 2018 sales goal. Its monthly sales drop partially resulted from the continue declining sales performance of the Trumpchi GS4, whose year-on-year decrease was widened to 14.4% last month from 13% in May.

According to GAC Group, effected by the overhaul of the Trumpchi GS4 and production transfer of the Trumpchi GS3 and GE3, GAC Motor's sales have temporarily declined. The automaker expects to achieve a steady sales growth with the launchings of the new Trumpchi GS4, which went on sale on June 16, and other new models which will hit the market in the second half of this year, such as the Trumpchi GS5 and GM6.

The Sino-Japanese joint venture GAC Honda handed over 65,673 vehicles in June with a year-on-year increase of 11.23%. It has finished 45.19% of its annual sales target with 338,903 vehicles delivered in the first half of this year, up by 5.49% over the year-ago period. Reportedly, the all-new Accord Hybrid will go on sale in the third quarter, which is expected to substantially drive the joint venture's sales performance.

GAC Toyota's June deliveries surged 30.1% year on year to 51,002 units. Besides, its year-to-date sales totaled 255,388 units, jumping 16.37% from a year earlier and completing 51.08% of its sales goal. From January to June, the sales of the eighth-generation Camry, the Highlander and the Levin family reached 70,331 units, 45,318 units and 94,047 units, all achieving impressive year-on-year sales growth.

In June, GAC Mitsubishi maintained its upward sales momentum with 12,106 new vehicles delivered, exceeding 10,000 units for 10 consecutive months and achieving year-on-year sales growth for 23 months in a row. In the first half of 2018, the company's sales aggregated 75,167 units, soaring 38.64% compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. The sales driver should be the compact SUV model Outlander, whose June sales were 9,956 units and year-to-date sales shot up 52% from the previous year to 56,582 units.
