Audi ambitious to sell 800,000 PHEVs, BEVs in China by 2025
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Audi aims to sell 800,000 units of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV) by 2025, according to Joachim Wedler, president at Audi China. Besides, Audi plans to bring 10 EV models in Chinese markets by 2020, among which 5 models is set to be produced in China.
The China-made Audi Q2L, code-named X55, is said to go on sale next month. Besides, the vehicle code-named X55 BEV, which is predicted to be the BEV version of the Audi Q2L, has rolled off production line at FAW Volkswagen’s Foshan plant. The X55 BEV probably retains the exterior design from the Audi Q2L, offering 3 variants of octagonal banner intake grilles. The range for the BEV version might be up to 500km.
Audi unveiled the final production version of the e-tron SUV, its first BEV model, on Sept. 17 in San Francisco. Based on Audi's modular MLP platform, the luxury EV is slated to be imported into China next year and be locally manufactured in this country before it hit the market in 2020.
Powering the Audi e-tron is a new electric quattro® all-wheel drive system that can generate a maximum power of 300kW and make the car run at a top speed of 200km/h. A large 95 kWh lithium ion battery pack offers long distance trips on a single charge. The e-tron® will be engineered for both AC(alternating current) and DC (direct current) charging via the widespread SAE Combined Charging System (CCS), and can utilize 150kW DC high speed public charging stations that provides to 80% charge in about 30 minutes. At home, 9.6 kW AC charger (Level 2, 240-volt/40 amps) is designed to deliver a full charge overnight.
The all-new Audi A8L hit China’s market in April. The car adopts the mild-hybrid technology, powered by a 3.0T engine and a 48-volt electrical system. It is reported that the all-new Audi A8L will offer the PHEV version in China in the future.
Moreover, the all-new Audi A6L will enter into China next year. The new model measures 5,038mm/5050mm in length, 1,886mm in width and 1,475mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,024mm, featuring a bigger size than that of the existing model. The plug-in hybrid system powering the all-new Audi A6L is able to output a maximum power of 180kW and peak torque of 500 N·m. Using the pure electric mode, the car features a mileage up to 50km.
