Ford launches all-new Territory mid-sized SUV in China, named Lingjie in Chinese
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Ford Motor launched the all-new Territory mid-sized SUV in China on October 16 and announced its Chinese name “Lingjie” at the same time.
The new model, developed with Ford's local partner Jiangling Motors, targets China's mid-sized SUV market, which Ford said is the largest segment in terms of sales in the country's SUV sector.
Ford's family genes have been richly demonstrated on the all-new Territory. The iconic hexagonal intake grille looks milder with relatively rounded angles, seamlessly connecting the sleek LED lights on both sides. The LED daytime running lights flanking the lower intake grille make people's visual effect broadened, highlighting the model's SUV identity.
The new SUV model measures 4,580 mm in length, 1,936mm in width and 1,674mm in height. The 2,716mm-long wheelbase creates a spacious back seating room. The unmistakable chrome trims sit at the middle of the rear end, which adopts a similar design as the JMC S330 SUV.
To ensure the driving safety and facilitate drivers' operation, the all-new Territory boasts Ford's Co-Pilot 360™ driver assistance system that includes such applications as the ACC (adaptive cruise control), the FCW (forward collision warning), the BLIS® (blind spot detection), the AEB (autonomous emergency braking), the APA (active park assist ) and the panoramic holographic display system, etc.
The new SUV vehicle sports the speech and language solutions developed by iFlytek Co., Ltd, which enable users to control the in-vehicle applications by naturally speaking out instructions. Interestingly, the system even can understand most mandarin with regional accents.
Apart from the voice-activated function, users are allowed to control the on-board infotainment system via the button at the steering wheel and the 10.1-inch touch screen at the center console. The LCD (liquid crystal display) at the instrument panel is available for three display modes, showing the real-time navigation information from the center console.
Powering the new vehicle is an EcoBoost 145®'s 1.5L direct injection turbocharged engine, mated to a CVT (continuously variable transmission). The engine could output a maximum power of 143hp. Ford said the all-new Territory will offer the 48V mild hybrid version and other NEV versions in the future.
