Jiangsu issues guidelines to revive automobile sales

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Jiangsu Provincial Government announced earlier this month its guidance measures to revive automobile consumption, which is hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak.

According to a governmental file, authorities in Jiangsu are encouraged to hammer out policies to boost car shopping based on local circumstances, guide locally-registered vehicle sellers in furnishing consumers with price discounts, finance support and after-sales services, and supporting car-free families to buy NEVs for oil-fueled vehicles under the China Ⅵ emission standard as their first vehicles.

The provincial government clearly stated that it will continue to carry out the subsidy policy for NEV promotion & application and infrastructure construction, offer key supports to the popularization and usage of new energy buses and fuel cell vehicles, and the operation and building of NEV charging facilities.

China's central government has decided to extend the subsidies and tax exemption provided for the purchase of NEVs, which were due to be removed by the end of this year, for another two years.

Besides, the use of NEVs and clean energy vehicles is cheered in such areas as bus, environmental sanitation, taxi, commuting, urban postal service, express expressage and logistics.

Moreover, local governments in Jiangsu are encouraged to increase as appropriate the subsidies for scrapping of old and used motor vehicles. Amid the fight against the coronavirus, consumers who replace pre-owned cars with NEVs, will be given subsidy 1.5 times as many as that of the original level with the value worth no fewer than RMB3,000 per car.

In a bid to further facilitate car shopping, Jiangsu shall implement the policy of comprehensively cancelling the restriction on the movement of used cars. Cities at or below the prefecture level are required to optimize the restriction policies on pickup trunks entering the cities. What's more, local governments are forbidden to launch new restrictions on automobile purchase and traffic except for the needs of emergency response.
