NIO starts delivery of all-new ES8 SUV

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese EV startup NIO started the delivery of the all-new ES8 all-electric SUV on April 19, three days after the mass-produced vehicle rolled off the production line at the at the JAC-NIO Advanced Manufacturing Center in Hefei, according to a post on NIO's WeChat account.

The all-new NIO ES8 made its debut at the 2019 NIO Day in last December with its variants priced from RMB468,000 to RMB624,000. Compared to the existing one, the new version features more than 180 improvements, which are made on the basis of customers’ feedback, according to NIO.

“The volume production and punctual delivery of the all-new ES8 spotlight NIO's efficient operation and manufacturing capabilities amid such a special moment,” said William Li, chairman and CEO of the startup.

Powered by a 160kW permanent magnet motor and a 240kW induction motor with an electric all-wheel-drive system, the all-new ES8 holds a combined output of up to 544hp and 725N·m of peak torque, and can sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 4.9 second.

Thanks to the 100kWh liquid-cooled thermostatic battery pack, the all-new ES8 has a NEDC-rated range of 580km, a big improvement compared to that of the outstanding model. Besides, the 70kWh and the 84kWh battery packs supporting NEDC range of 415km and 485km will be offered as well.

The all-new ES8 inherits the NIO's family design language, but the revamp is still noticeable. As for the interior design, the cockpit is upgraded to a 9.8-inch ultra-slim IC and an 11.3-inch HD multi-touch center display. Such advanced niceties as the smart charging port cover and NFC key card are introduced into the vehicle. In addition, the all-new ES8 is now available to the NIO App.

The onboard NIO Pilot system, NIO's self-developed advanced autonomous driving assistant system, is employed to enhance car ownership experience. Equipped with the Mobileye EyeQ4 chip, NIO Pilot features more than 20 advanced driving assistance functions and over-the-air software updates, said NIO (all-new NIO ES8, photo source: NIO's WeChat account).
