FAW Group’s first DCT 400 high-torque transmission rolls off the production line
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FAW Group saw its first DCT 400 transmission come off the production line on June 1, meaning that the Chinese state-owned automaker has filled in the blank in the field of high-torque automatic transmission.
The DCT 400 is the name of a seven-speed wet dual clutch transmission for longitudinal rear-wheel-drive engine applications, mated with electronically controlled hydraulic gearshift system, according to FAW Group. It is available to 48-volt mild hybrid system and electronic gear shift mechanism, and can be adapted to the P2 hybrid architecture and the all-wheel-drive. The maximum input torque of the new transmission is engineered to be 420 N·m.
The company said the DCT 400 is a high-end transmission particularly designed for Hongqi-branded vehicles, and it will be applied in the Hongqi H9 full-sized sedans and the HS7 full-sized SUVs first, cooperating with 2.0T 4GC and V6TD engines respectively.
The new transmission came off the assembly line at China First Automobile Co., Ltd.'s powertrain factory which was inaugurated on the same day. The factory, formally known as FAW Car's engine and transmission center, is at present directed by China First Automobile Co., Ltd., a subsidiary 99.62% owned by FAW Group.
FAW Group stated that the newly-unveiled powertrain factory primarily works on producing the engines within the series of GA, GB, GC and GV, and the transmissions named DCT220, DCT270 and DCT400, which are set to power the Hongqi HS5, HS7, H9, and the Besturn T77 and T99 vehicles, etc. It is to-day able to output 500,000 engines and 160,000 transmissions on an annual basis (photo source: FAW Group).
