Xpeng Motors’ third production model to be unveiled in 2021

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Xpeng Motors teased its third mass-produced model via its WeChat account on Jan. 7.

The silhouette exposed by the teaser photo shows that the yet-to-be-launched model will be a sedan.

Adopting all-new design and technologies, the third model will be unveiled and handed over to consumers in 2021, said He Xiaopeng, founder, chairman and CEO of Xpeng Motors.

The new model is expected to be a conventional sedan and features the same closed-off grille as that of the Xpeng P7, according to a local media outlet. However, the startup has not announced any more details.

Xpeng Motors currently has two production models for sales, namely the Xpeng G3 and the Xpeng P7, which went on sale in Dec. 2018 and April 2020 respectively.

The startup said its total deliveries for the year ended Dec. 31, 2020 reached 27,041 units, surging 112% year on year. The year-to-date P7 deliveries amounted to 15,062 units since its mass delivery kicked off at the end of June. Besides, 11,979 consumers took delivery of the G3s last year.

For the fourth quarter of 2020, Xpeng Motors achieved a record quarterly delivery of 12,964 units, representing a 303% year-on-year hike and 51% growth from the previous quarter. In the Oct.-Dec. period, 8,527 P7s were delivered to consumers.

With 5,700 EVs delivered, the company also achieved its best-ever monthly deliveries in December 2020, a 326% surge compared to the year-ago period.

Xpeng Motors said the record-breaking results in Dec. and fourth-quarter sales should be credited to its growing brand awareness, expanded sales, marketing and supercharging service initiatives across China.
