Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited (BYD) announced on Monday its new car sales reached 51,015 units in June 2021, surging 51.27% year on year, while growing 10.2% month on month.
The growth in monthly sales was credited to the 192.03% hike in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, which surpassed 40,000 units for the first time so far this year.
Passenger vehicles accounted for 97% of BYD's NEV sales for the month of June. To be specific, the sales of all-electric vehicles soar 102.04% to 20,016 units, while 20,100 PHEVs was sold to hit a 536.68% spike year-over-year.

The precipitous rise in PHEV sales in June should be mainly thanks to the market launch of the three vehicle models using BYD's DM-i super hybrid technology, namely the Qin PLUS DM-i, the Song PLUS DM-i, and the Tang DM-i.
In June, BYD saw its oil-fueled vehicle sales plunge 50.67% from the previous year. The sedan, the SUV, and the MPV segments all posted two-digit decrease.
