CATL, BYD make up 68% of China’s Jan.-Nov. installed power battery capacity
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In November 2021, China's power battery outputs reached 28.2GWh, soaring 121.8% year on year, while also growing 12.4% month on month, according to the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (CAPBIIA).

For the first eleven months of 2021, there were 188.1GWh of power batteries produced in this country, representing a 175.5% year-on-year hike. Of those, 82.4GWh and 105.3GWh were ternary-lithium batteries and lithium phosphate batteries, up 106.1% and 275.7% from the year-ago period.
The CAPBIIA's data showed that China's installed battery capacity reached 20.8GWh last month, leaping 96.2% from a year ago, while also jumping 35.1% over the previous month.
Regarding Nov. installed capacity, the No.1 power battery manufacturer in China was still CATL, who accounted for 55% of the country's total capacity, up by 5.1 percentage points from the previous month. The runner-up BYD recorded 3.46GWh of installed capacity last month. Compared to October, CALB and SVOLT moved up to the third and fifth places, while LG Energy Solution re-entered the top 10 rankings.
The country's Jan.-Nov. installed battery capacity zoomed up 153.1% from the year earlier to 128.3GWh, 49.3% and 50.5% of which were from ternary-lithium batteries and lithium phosphate batteries respectively.
Regarding the year-to-date installed capacity, CATL and BYD together accounted for 68% of the country's total volume. Compared to the rankings based on Jan.-Oct. performance, SVOLT surpassed EVE Energy to the sixth place.
