By virtue of Journey 5’s high performance and high computing power, the duo will facilitate an integrated driving/parking solution with market competitiveness and explore advanced autonomous driving.
The first Journey 5-powered BYDs will be on the market as early as mid-2023. The procurement cooperation marked a breakthrough regarding BYD and Horizon Robotics’ long-term practical business collaboration. The partners plan to further their cooperation and install Horizon Robotics’ products onto more BYD vehicles.
The Journey 5 chip offers a maximum AI computing power of 128TOPS, supporting 16 ways of camera perception computing.
On the other hand, as the first traditional automaker to fully renounce gas-fueled vehicles and embrace new energy vehicles, BYD is also the only automaker in the world to hold core technologies in electric motor, electrical control, and batteries. In 2021, the company sold nearly 600,000 new energy passenger vehicles worldwide, leading the Chinese new energy vehicle industry.
As to its intellectualization, BYD has built its BYD e platform, the DiLink intelligent connected system, and the DiPilot intelligent driving assistant system.
When combined with Horizon Robotics’ high-performance automotive chips, the partners are able to give a full play to each’s potential in the intelligent driving field.
