BMW Brilliance, JD Logistics team up on BEV-enabled factory logistics

Beijing (Gasgoo)- JD Logistics and BMW Brilliance recently entered into a cooperation, with JD logistics undertaking the automaker’s drayage transport services for its Shenyang production base, JD Logistics announced on November 23.

Specifically, JD Logistics will deploy a fleet of 38 new energy electric vehicles with BMW Brilliance, marking the logistics giant’s first-of-its-kind cooperation pattern. Under the agreement, the fleet will help the automaker realize fully electrified cargo transport to and fro the production base, which aligns with BMW’s vision of a green operation.

At the same time, with JD Logistics and State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC)’s jointly building the first dedicated charging and battery swapping station for the automobile industry in China, electric trucks can swap their batteries within 5 minutes, which not only improves the transportation efficiency of the fleet, but also effectively reduces the operating cost.

On June 23 this year, BMW inaugurated the Lida Factory in Shenyang city, which was built in compliance with the BMW iFACTORY manufacturing strategy, providing a global solution for the group’s electrification. The strategy applies to all of BMW’s factories around the globe, including the three complete vehicle factories and one powertrain factory in Shenyang.
