GAC Group releases ‘NEXT’ strategic plan, Trumpchi E9 starts presale

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 18, GAC Group released its “NEXT” business strategy at the Auto Shanghai 2023, which focuses on the intelligent new energy vehicle transition.

According to GAC Group, “NEXT” is short for New EV + XEV Transition, referring to the company’s determination to adopt the “EV+ICV (intelligent connected vehicle)” and “XEV (hybrid vehicle) +ICV” development approaches. With GAC AION pushing ahead with its EV development, GAC Trumpchi will focus on creating more XEV products, including plug-in hybrid, range-extended, and hybrid vehicles. 

The legacy Chinese automaker believes that the future of the auto industry will revolve around “product+ecosystem”, cars alone do not hold as much competition. Automakers should be able to bring users excellent service and car-using experience, which are as important as the products. Hence, GAC Group’s “NEXT” plan will also involve establishing energy technology and ecosystem, intelligent technology and mobility ecosystem, as well industrial chain and industrial ecological cluster.

In addition, GAC Group’s Trumpchi brand brought the new flagship smart electric MPV, the Trumpchi E9, to this year's auto show and kicked off presale.

The Trumpchi E9 is equipped with a 2.0T plug-in hybrid system, taking care of users’ range anxiety. The E9 is also installed with the automaker’s core technologies such as the GMC400 hybrid transmission and magazine battery to achieve a combined range of over 1,000km. 

Besides the Trumpchi E9, heavyweight PHEV products, including the second-generation GS8 and a new B-segment MPV, will also be launched one after another, said GAC Group.
