Geely, Linglong Tire set up joint digital lab for tire technology development

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Geely Automobile Research Institute and Linglong Tire jointly announced the establishment of the "Geely Engineering Center & Linglong Technology Center TIH Laboratory" on June 13.

Linglong Tire, founded in 1975, is a globally recognized Chinese tire manufacturing company. With seven R&D facilities, seven production bases, and over 18,000 employees worldwide, Linglong Tire has built a diversified brand portfolio catering to the differentiated global market. Its tire products are extensively utilized in passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and construction machinery.

The collaboration between Linglong Tire and Geely has laid a solid foundation for their comprehensive strategic partnership, which spanned over a decade long. To further enhance the overall performance of Geely’s vehicles, the two companies have embarked on deeper cooperation, including the TIH (Tuning In House) project, which is an indoor virtual development solution jointly developed by Linglong Tire and Geely.

The TIH project utilizes tire modeling software such as F-tire, MF-tire, and Virtual Tire to simulate the tire's performance on real vehicles through computer simulations. This approach provides a more realistic, safe, environmentally friendly, and efficient simulation effect.

By employing virtual development and calibration of tires, the TIH project significantly reduces the tire matching project development cycle and lowers associated costs. Compared to traditional development methods, virtual development reduces development iterations, enhances individual tire testing quality, and resolves the issue of prolonged tire development cycles caused by imbalanced VD performance (steering control, ride comfort) and NVH performance.
