U POWER debuts U VAN all-electric logistics vehicle at 2023 World Manufacturing Convention

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- At the 2023 World Manufacturing Convention which kicked off on September 20 in Hefei city, the capital of Anhui province, U POWER, the leading innovator in skateboard chassis technology, debuted its groundbreaking product, the UP VAN.

The UP VAN, the company's first-ever complete vehicle model built on skateboard chassis technology, is designed exclusively for urban logistics scenarios, offering cost reduction and efficiency enhancement solutions.

According to the company, all comprehensive vehicle production tests for the U POWER Super VAN have been successfully completed, with deliveries set to commence in the first quarter of 2024. The platform is now open for discussions and partnerships with various industry players.

Sharing the spotlight at the event was the UP Super Board, which the company claims as China's mass-producible skateboard chassis-by-wire.

This appearance at the 2023 World Manufacturing Convention comes on the heels of U POWER's announcement in May to establish its headquarters in Hefei. The company has already secured two consecutive rounds of investment from Hefei Industry Investment Group.

The UP VAN, built on a fire new electric commercial vehicle architecture, boasts four superlative features: super capacity, super efficiency, super safety, and super intelligence, said the company.

Super capacity

Thanks to the high cabin utilization rate inherited from the UP Super Board, the UP VAN offers a 20% increase in cargo volume and a 30% boost in load capacity compared to similar models. It can effortlessly fit into a standard car parking space, perfectly aligning with urban logistics needs. The special cargo bay design makes daily cargo handling more ergonomic, with an industry-low floor height of just 0.5 meters for easy boarding and a high cargo bay design enabling standing work, reducing the risk of common occupational ailments among laborers.

Super efficiency

"Efficiency knows no bounds" is the core principle for utility vehicles, and the UP VAN lives up to it with competitive ownership costs, 8% lower than the models with equivalent capacity. Its advanced technology, with a 0.3 coefficient of drag, coupled with intelligent energy recovery, ensures that the UP VAN leads the industry in total lifecycle cost. Under the same volume/electricity capacity, the UP VAN achieves a 15% improvement in CLTC range.

Super safety

Engineered in accordance with passenger car safety standards, the UP VAN features a chassis, frame, and body made from high-strength steel, reaching the European N1 safety standards. It is the first to come equipped with One-box and is customizable with an Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system, so as to enhance driving safety. The intelligent power replenishment and round-the-clock intelligent monitoring functions efficiently ensure vehicle operational utilization while lowering insurance costs.

Super intelligence

The UP VAN boasts a dedicated digital cargo bay for logistics scenarios, offering real-time monitoring of cargo volume and load to enhance operational efficiency. It features a passenger car-level smart cabin with smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth keyless entry, remote vehicle control via an app, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, electrically adjustable mirrors, and more as standard. It also has the capability for over-the-air updates to all vehicle controllers.

Notably, the UP VAN provides tailored customer solutions for various application scenarios. It offers modular vehicle body solutions for coffee shops, retail stores, and more, catering to individual business needs. Additionally, it can quickly expand to microvans, recreational vehicles, and other vehicle types to meet diverse market demands.
