SAIC-GM inaugurates Software and Digital Business Organization in Shanghai

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On November 8, SAIC-GM's Software and Digital Business Organization officially opened its doors in Shanghai's Pudong Jinqiao area. This center, a vital component of the company's digital transformation, is set to focus on aligning with the latest industry developments and user demands.

It will integrate resources across the entire business chain, expedite the development, iteration, and localization of cutting-edge intelligent connected vehicle technologies, and provide users with enhanced intelligent connectivity features and digital services. Furthermore, it will serve as a catalyst for SAIC-GM's ongoing rapid advancement in the electric and intelligent vehicle domain.

The establishment of the Software and Digital Business Organization is a testament to the steadfast collaboration between SAIC Motor and General Motors. Julian Blissett, President of General Motors China, noted, "Software has become the core of General Motors' global strategy, playing an increasingly important role in the vehicle experience and vehicle development process. Our development focus is now squarely on 'software-defined vehicles'." Zhuang Jingxiong, General Manager of SAIC-GM, emphasized that "the newly established Software and Digital Business Organization will significantly enhance the efficiency of local software development for SAIC-GM and allow us to swiftly respond to the demands of the Chinese market."

By 2025, SAIC-GM's total investment in new technologies related to electrification and intelligent connectivity will reach 70 billion yuan, said the automaker.

The newly established Software and Digital Business Organization will build an organizational structure that focuses on cloud-edge technology and business requirements. It will accelerate the convergence of digitization, intelligent connectivity, and the automotive industry, providing Chinese consumers with improved and richer in-cabin and intelligent driving functionalities and experiences tailored to user scenarios. Thanks to the efficient integration of the company's entire business chain resources, this center will significantly enhance organizational efficiency, software development, problem-solving efficiency, and the strategic implementation of the company's data ecosystem.
