In the realm of electric drive, Xiaomi introduced three electric motors, the V6, V6s, and V8s. The V6 boasts a speed of 21,000 rpm, torque at 400N·m, and peak power of 220kW. The V6s matches the V6 in speed but offers higher torque at 500N·m and a peak power of 275kW. Currently in production, the V6 and V6s will be featured in Xiaomi's inaugural vehicle model. The V8s, with a maximum speed of 27,200 rpm, will be installed onto mass-produced vehicles in 2025.
Xiaomi innovates in automotive battery technology with an inverted cell technique, ensuring swift downward energy release in extreme scenarios for maximum cabin safety. In the battery sector, Xiaomi has applied for 132 patents, 65 of which have received authorization.
Lei Jun disclosed Xiaomi's strides in autonomous driving, harnessing road large model technology to achieve intelligent driving functions without high-precision maps, surpassing experienced drivers. With an initial investment of 3.3 billion yuan (currently increased to 4.7 billion yuan), a dedicated team of over 1,000 staff members, 200 test vehicles, and over 10 million kilometers of testing distance covered, Xiaomi remains committed to developing intelligent driving technology, aiming to lead the industry by 2024.
Lei Jun introduced that Xiaomi's intelligent driving large model can instantly respond to road changes, accurately generating driving guide lines. Xiaomi's super-resolution network technology can precisely identify irregular obstacles, such as temporary traffic lights, and even automatically reduce noise in rainy or snowy conditions. “Parking scenarios are more accurate, urban scenarios are broader, and the front recognition range on highways reaches 250 meters. The perception range can be dynamically adjusted,” said Lei Jun.
Moreover, Xiaomi’s smart cockpit system hosts a robust application ecosystem, seamlessly integrating Xiaomi tablets and smartphones into the entire vehicle system, enhancing the mobile intelligent space.
Utilizing a five-screen linked cabin system and Snapdragon 8295 chip, Xiaomi’s first vehicle model ensures a superlative experience, employing Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS to mirror mobile and tablet interfaces, making it user-friendly. Moreover, Mi Home devices can also be connected to the Xiaomi vehicle with password-free entry.
"Even Apple users will have a great experience in Xiaomi cars," Lei Jun affirmed.
