The Audi brand registered a robust delivery volume of 728,575 units in 2023, representing a 13.5% year-on-year growth. Meanwhile, annual deliveries of the Volkswagen brand and its Jetta sub-brand amounted to 2,398,600 vehicles in China throughout the year, ticking up 0.1% from a year ago.

Acceleration in the transition towards new energy vehicles was evident as Volkswagen delivered a total of 191,800 battery-electric cars in China during 2023, which jumped 23.2% year over year.

On the other hand, in the oil-fueled vehicle segment, Volkswagen Group handed over approximately 3 million vehicles to Chinese customers, signifying a 0.8% increase year-on-year. This expansion pushed the German auto giant’s China market share in the oil-fueled vehicle segment from 19% to 20%.

The group cited profitability in the oil-fueled vehicle market, attributing it to economies of scale and cost advantages, which, in turn, bolsters the group's substantial transformation efforts.

Looking ahead, Volkswagen Group plans to introduce new models to reinforce its oil-fueled vehicle product lineup, focusing on integrating high-end technological upgrades across major conventional fuel vehicle products. Simultaneously, the group aims to gradually advance the hybridization of its fuel vehicle lineup, providing more choices for the new energy vehicle market.

In the realm of electrification, Volkswagen Group is set to enrich its portfolio by introducing the first Volkswagen brand battery-electric model manufactured by Volkswagen (Anhui) in 2024. Furthermore, a collaborative effort between Volkswagen and XPeng will fortify the automaker’s product matrix with two new energy models by 2026.
