GAC Group sees Apr. 2024 wholesales slide 24.78% YoY
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group reported automobile wholesales totaling 133,313 units in April 2024, marking a 24.78% decline year-over-year. From January to April, the company's total wholesale volume reached 543,011 units, representing a 24.28% decrease compared to the same period last year.
However, GAC Group saw a substantial growth in its international markets presence, exporting around 45,000 vehicles in the first four months of this year, a significant soar of 267.1% year-over-year.
GAC Motor, the entity behind GAC Group's self-owned brand Trumpchi, achieved a wholesale volume of 37,733 units in April, an increase of 29.07% year-over-year. High-value flagship models accounted for 43% of its April sales, with 16,076 units sold, and MPV models experienced an 18% increase year-on-year, with 13,198 units sold in the month.
Conversely, another GAC Group's wholly-owned passenger vehicle unit, GAC AION, saw a significant drop in wholesale volume by 47.94% year-over-year, totaling 21,350 units in April, despite the retail sales reaching 26,761 units.

GAC AION recently unveiled several significant technological advancements and products, including the the second-generation AION V launched at the Auto China 2024. This new global strategic model, developed in accordance to international standards, supports intelligent driving without maps, boasts a long-range capability of 750 km, and can recharge up to 370 km of range in just 15 minutes. It is slated to hit the market in July of this year.
As for joint-venture performance, GAC Toyota and GAC Honda are accelerating their shift towards intelligent connected new energy vehicles and increasing the proportion of electrified vehicle models in their lineups.
GAC Toyota's April wholesale volume came in at 48,786 units, which dipped 32.24% over a year ago. Meanwhile, its monthly retail sales reached 52,251 units, with electrified models comprising 49% of these sales.
At the Auto China 2024, GAC Toyota unveiled the full electric SUV model, the bZ3X, featuring a new electronic and electrical architecture with a range of up to 600 km.
GAC Honda recorded a wholesale volume of 24,673 units in April, marking a 2.93% year-on-year dip. Meanwhile, it retailed 37,170 vehicles in the month.
At the Auto China 2024, GAC Honda officially put its second Honda-branded pure electric model, the e:NP2, onto the market.
