Leapmotor, BWI International partner on brake-by-wire, steer-by-wire technology R&D

Beijing (Gasgoo)- On August 26, BeijingWest Industries International Limited (BWI International) officially announced the signing of a long-term strategic partnership agreement with Chinese new energy vehicle maker Leapmotor. Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate on steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire technologies for the global market.

In terms of R&D, they will jointly develop new technologies, materials, processes, and products. On the manufacturing front, the partners will focus on advancing the platform, standard, and generalization of components to ensure high-quality output while optimizing costs and enhancing value. Additionally, both companies will work together on market promotion and operational management to boost the market share of their products.

The partnership's innovative product portfolio includes steer-by-wire suspension systems and brake-by-wire systems, such as MagneRide® magnetorheological dampers, AeroRide air suspension, ValveRide continuously variable damping control dampers, intelligent fully active suspension, Stabilizer Actively Controlled Roll (SARC) systems, electromechanical braking (EMB) systems, and iDBC1 intelligent integrated brake-by-wire systems (1-Box).

Recently, BWI International also secured a magnetorheological suspension project from a leading Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturer, which will use the latest fourth-generation MagneRide® technology for its high-end models. With this order, BWI International's Chinese team has successfully secured magnetorheological suspension projects with five domestic automakers, meeting the demands of both new energy and traditional fuel vehicles.

BWI International stated that over the next five years, MagneRide® magnetorheological suspension products will see large-scale vehicle integration, marking a significant breakthrough in localization and the domestic supply chain.
