According to Horizon Robotics, Hongqi plans to build an intelligent driving domain controller based on the Journey 5 chips, providing strong AI computing power of 384-512 TOPS for the new-generation FEEA 3.0 electronic and electrical architecture. The domain controller can be expected to realize mass production on Hongqi’s new models in 2023.
Meanwhile, the two companies are also cooperating to develop assistant driving functions by virtue of Horizon Robotics’ Journey 2 chips. Their cooperative model will make its debut this year.
As FAW Group’s signature high-end China-made vehicle brand, Hongqi has been emphasizing the intellectualization and digitization transformation strategy for the past four years. The technology-driven strategy has successfully boosted Hongqi’s annual sales volume from 4,700+ vehicles to 300,000 vehicles.
As a leading automotive chip developer in China, Horizon Robotics will be a strong partner in Hongqi’s ecosystem. Its technical achievements align with the automaker’s R.Flag technological strategy. The duo will further explore the possibilities of China’s intelligent auto industry.
