Baidu to further deploy 200 driverless vehicles in China in 2023
Beijing (Gasgoo)- Baidu announced on December 26 a major expansion of its commercialized fully driverless Robotaxi service in Wuhan with tripled operation coverage, increased number of Robotaxis, and newly added evening service hours.

Currently, Apollo Go, Baidu's autonomous mobility service platform, holds an operation area of more than 130 square kilometers in Wuhan, Hubei Province, covering a population of 1 million. The total unmanned Robotaxi service area has been doubled in size. At the same time, the Robotaxi’s evening service hours has been further expanded to 7 p.m.-23 p.m. in Junshan New Town to meet the local mobility needs at night.
In 2023, Baidu Apollo will continue to expand its business scale, and plans to add 200 fully self-driving Robotaxis nationwide, striving to build the world's largest driverless operating service area.

Up to now, Wuhan has opened up more than 400 kilometers of roads for intelligent connected vehicle tests. Baidu took the opportunity to land its Apollo Go Robotaxi service in the city in May 2022 and kicked off fully-autonomous driverless commercial operation in August, which was also the first of its kind nationwide.
So far, Baidu has accumulated over 40 million kilometers of safe L4 autonomous driving distance. By the end of the third quarter of 2022, Apollo Go has completed more than 1.4 million Robotaxi service orders.
