JIDU kicks off intelligent driving generalization test in Guangzhou

Beijing (Gasgoo)- JIDU, the auto brand backed by Baidu and Geely, recently put its intelligent driving solution to generalization tests under urban scenarios in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, said Dr. Wang Weibao, head of JIDU’s intelligent driving team.

On December 30, JIDU officially showcased its first automotive robot (Robocar), the ROBO-01, at the Auto Guangzhou 2022. In the meantime, the automaker also unveiled the exterior design of its second production model, the ROBO-02 electric sedan, via a display car. In accordance to their names, the ROBO-01 and ROBO-02, is an integration of acme design, cutting-edge technologies, and intelligent experience, which represents JIDU’s robotics aesthetics design language.  

As a smart full-sized SUV, the ROBO-01 will come standard with the automaker’s high-level intelligent driving system, especially, the PPA function (Point to Point Autopilot). Upon delivery, the ROBO-01’s PPA scenario coverage will reach a leading level in China, said JIDU. 

JIDU’s full-stack intelligent driving system is powered by the full set of capabilities and safety system of Baidu Apollo’s high-level autonomous driving solution. Built on users’ needs, JIDU and Apollo will jointly reintegrate, develop, and validate Apollo’s technologies to provide users with a suitable advanced onboard experience as car owners. Currently, Apollo’s ANP3.0 technology was already adopted by JIDU. 

In fact, JIDU has been conducting accommodation test for its intelligent driving system under urban or high-speed scenarios in Beijing and Shanghai since October 2022. Guangzhou marked the third city for the automaker to test its technologies.
