Specifically, the WeRide inked the official agreement with the China-UAE Industrial Zone during the 2023 China Industrial Products Exhibition held by the Zone in Abu Dhabi from March 7 to March 9. The company showcased its self-driving taxis and minibuses, providing on-site autonomous shuttle services at the exhibition.
The China-UAE Industrial Zone serves as a bridge between Chinese companies and the Gulf region's market, playing an important role in supporting Chinese companies' "going global" strategy. With WeRide settling in the Zone, the company hopes to further accelerate the commercialization of autonomous driving technology in the UAE based on its leading technology and rich product operation experience.
In fact, WeRide has been actively expanding its autonomous driving business in the Middle East region. In March 2022, WeRide's Robotaxi achieved public operation in Abu Dhabi through cooperation with local ride-hailing platforms, providing a new travel option for local residents. In September of the same year, WeRide appeared at the 2022 Global AI Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and announced a cooperation with Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) to launch the first dynamic demonstration route for unmanned minibuses in Saudi Arabia.
