Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 16, Guo Hui, the Chief Scientist of IM Motors, unveiled the future 3~5 years roadmap for the advancement of the carmaker's intelligent driving products at a tech event gathering several academic experts and industry executives. The announcement included the initiation of the "IM AD City NOA (Navigate on Autopilot)" public beta test, scheduled for this October, marking IM Motors’ entry into the "City NOA Era" alongside leading players in the industry.

The forthcoming City NOA public beta test in October signifies that IM Motors has managed to achieve in just two years (since its brand launch in 2021) what other top industry players took nine years to accumulate, said Mr. Guo.

According to the roadmap, over the next 3 to 5 years, IM Motors is set to accelerate the deployment of its intelligent driving products, ushering in a series of product launches, including HD-map-free NOA, city NOA, and commuter mode.

To be specific, the carmaker’s intelligent driving assistance system, IM AD, will be put into public testing for the HD-map-free NOA feature in September this year. The internal testing of the City NOA feature began in April this year and has progressed smoothly, with public testing scheduled to start in October. Besides, the company said the Commuter Mode of the IM AD is expected to rapidly cover over 100 cities nationwide by 2024. By 2025, the IM AD will transition into the Door to Door era, which is characterized by all kinds of commuting scenarios.

As a young premium electric vehicle brand co-backed by SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group, and Zhangjiang High-Tech, IM Motors devoted two years to catching up with leading players through joint development and mutual empowerment with Momenta. This underlying advantage encompasses a more efficient architecture, rapidly evolving algorithms, and increased utilization of generative data, all contributing to the acceleration of IM AD's evolution, said the carmaker.

According to IM Motor's introduction, the IM AD boasts compatibility with two computing platforms of differing power capabilities—Xavier and Orin—enabling higher architectural adaptability and a 90% reduction in computing power requirements, accompanied by a significant 500% boost in model execution efficiency. These advancements enable comprehensive visual fusion across limited computing resources. Even the "single LiDAR + single Orin chip" solution can cover all urban scenarios, meeting the requirements of high-definition map NOA.

Notably, as the pinnacle of IM Motors' intelligent products, the upcoming LS6, which will debut at the Chengdu Auto Show, will be equipped with the HD-map-free NOA capability across its lineup. It will also introduce an industry-first "one-click scene valet driving" feature, addressing high-frequency pain points in user city commuting scenarios through the IM AD technology.

Currently, IM Motors is preparing for international deployment of the IM AD. The system has already undergone localization adaptability training in Europe, while the algorithm planning has been tailored to suit local environments and driving behaviors.
