RoboSense launches M3 ultra-long-range LiDAR for L3+ intelligent driving systems

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Chinese smart LiDAR solution provider RoboSense launched its latest innovation, the M3 ultra-long-range LiDAR, engineered for L3+ autonomous driving systems, during the CES 2024 in the United States.

According to RoboSense, the M3 is the inaugural ultra-long-range LiDAR product built on the company’s M platform, utilizing 940nm laser technology and 2D scanning technology. The company said that the M3 breaks industry barriers by achieving 300m@10% reflectivity via 940nm laser technology, surpassing the previous 1,550nm limitations. 

Certified by Seibersdorf Laboratories with a Class 1 eye safety rating, it employs 0.05°x0.05° resolution, enabling precise detection of distant objects like tires, cones, or children. Moreover, the M3 LiDAR's capabilities extend to assisting autonomous vehicles in promptly identifying scattered obstacles during emergencies, boosting L3 autonomous driving speed limits to 120km/h.

Notably, the M3 boasts low power consumption, eliminating active cooling needs, simplifying integration, and reducing overall size by over 50% compared to conventional 1,550nm LiDAR products. In addition, the M3 also realize a cost reduction of approximately 50% and over 30% lower power consumption, said RoboSense.

Thanks to its platform-oriented, modular design philosophy, the M3 lays the foundation for future M platform LiDAR products from RoboSense. These forthcoming iterations will maintain standardized scan formats, data interfaces, and dimensions while continuously upgrading performance and reducing costs. This approach aims to expedite model upgrades and cut secondary development expenses, ensuring seamless LiDAR upgrades for intelligent driving systems.
