WeRide deploys L4 unmanned Robosweepers for commercial sanitation service in Beijing

Beijing (Gasgoo)- WeRide, the Chinese autonomous driving solution developer, has officially launched its unmanned street cleaning vehicle, Robosweeper, in Beijing's Economic and Technological Development Area.

This groundbreaking project integrates "autonomous driving + new energy" mechanical operations with traditional manual methods, marking Beijing's first commercial sanitation initiative of this kind. The Robosweeper service covers key road sections in the area, operating during the day from 9:00 to 17:00 and introducing nighttime services from 0:00 to 7:00, strategically avoiding daytime traffic peaks to enhance operational efficiency.

WeRide initiated autonomous sweeping vehicle road tests in Beijing in July 2023 and received fully unmanned road testing permits in October of the same year, making it the first and only autonomous driving company authorized for unmanned cleaning operations in the city.

The WeRide Robosweeper, China's first mass-produced L4 autonomous sweeping vehicle, addresses challenges in the sanitation industry, such as aging labor force, high safety risks, and high carbon emissions. Utilizing pure electric drive, proprietary L4 autonomous driving software and hardware solutions, and a dedicated cloud control platform, it provides various urban sanitation services, including road sweeping, dust suppression, disinfection, and flushing. The vehicle significantly improves operational efficiency, reduces risks for sanitation workers, and minimizes exhaust emissions.

Currently operational in Beijing and key cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Dalian, the WeRide Robosweeper is playing a crucial role in upgrading local traditional sanitation industries.
