DeepWay permitted to conduct cross-provincial autonomous heavy-duty truck pilot operations

Beijing (Gasgoo)- DeepWay, the intelligent new energy commercial vehicle maker backed by Baidu, recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming China's first mass-produced vehicle manufacturer to obtain a license for cross-provincial autonomous heavy-duty truck testing and demonstration applications, according to the company’s announcement on March 8.

This accomplishment comes as part of the Pilot Project for Highway Freight Autonomous Driving Application from Tianjin Port to Majuqiao Logistics Park, (hereinafter refers to as the "Tonggangdayuan Project"), the first batch of intelligent transportation pilot projects initiated by China’s Ministry of Transport, which commenced normalized road testing on the Jingjintang Expressway.

The Tonggangdayuan Project, led by China Merchants Expressway Network & Technology Holdings Co., Ltd., aims to establish a highway freight autonomous driving pilot between Tianjin Port and the Majuqiao Logistics Park. DeepWay's involvement in the project has been recognized and jointly approved by the Tianjin Municipal Transportation Commission, the Tianjin Industrial and Information Technology Bureau, and the Tianjin Municipal Public Security Bureau.

Under this project, DeepWay's advanced Shenxiang Xingchen intelligent new energy heavy-duty trucks will provide autonomous highway freight services on the Beijing and Tianjin sections of the Jingjintang Expressway. This initiative marks a significant step towards realizing cross-provincial autonomous driving operations and contributes to the integration of transportation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, fostering coordinated development.
