Ji Yue licensed to conduct L3 intelligent connected vehicle road test in Optics Valley of China

Beijing (Gasgoo)- The Optics Valley of China, also known as the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, launched the L3 intelligent connected vehicle road-testing project on March 8 and issued its first L3 autonomous driving test license.

Ji Yue, the automotive robot brand jointly backed by Baidu and Geely was granted the significant license. This license enables it to conduct conditional autonomous driving road tests in designated areas, accelerating the development of intelligent driving and supporting the advancement and demonstration of intelligent driving technology in Optics Valley of China.

Professional road testing is a crucial means to mature autonomous driving technology and a fundamental step towards the commercialization of autonomous vehicles. Currently, The Wuhan-based Optics Valley has opened a total of 513.65 kilometers of intelligent connected test roads and aims to create a fully open testing environment. 

In January of 2023, Ji Yue established an R&D center in the Optics Valley, focusing on the technological development of intelligent driving, intelligent cabins, as well as internet products and engineering. Furthermore, it has built a comprehensive service system to provide users with top-notch intelligent mobility experience.

Currently, Ji Yue's point-to-point navigation assistance (PPA) covers over 400,000 kilometers of roads across China. The high-speed PPA feature is available on 90% of the country's expressways and elevated roads, while the urban PPA function covers major roads in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou cities. By 2024, Ji Yue's PPA intelligent driving system aims to achieve nationwide coverage, encompassing 100% of the country's expressways and elevated roads.
