Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Joyson Electronics has developed JAIC (Joyson AI Coding), an AI programming tool tailored to the automotive industry's software development processes and standards, according to a press release the company issued on Feb. 12 via its WeChat account.

Joyson Electronics said it has already integrated open-source large language models (LLMs) such as DeepSeek, Llama, and Qwen into JAIC, and is now working on a Coding Agent to further enhance efficiency in autonomous driving, smart cockpits, and intelligent connectivity.

In recent years, the rapid evolution of AI large models has fueled discussions on their applications in the automotive sector, particularly following the release of models like ChatGPT and DeepSeek. Automakers are increasingly incorporating these technologies to accelerate development. Joyson Electronics said it has also ramped up its AI initiatives to boost efficiency in intelligent driving and automotive software development.

To strengthen its AI capabilities, Joyson Electronics established the Joyson Automotive Intelligent Technology Research Institute in 2021, which focuses on R&D of autonomous driving technologies. In 2023, the company further assembled an international AI team with experts from Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Silicon Valley, and Austria, dedicated to advancing LLM applications in the automotive industry.

Last year, Joyson Electronics launched JAIC, an AI coding tool designed to meet the automotive industry's software development workflows and standards. Beyond basic code generation and Q&A functions, JAIC features automated unit testing, static code analysis, and code modification, significantly improving software development efficiency and quality.

With the recent rise of DeepSeek, which is expected to enhance AI-powered applications across multiple domains, the automotive sector has quickly embraced the AI large model. Several automakers have already announced plans to integrate DeepSeek into their vehicles. Joyson Electronics, leveraging its existing AI infrastructure, was among the first to adopt DeepSeek-V3 model, which has notably improved JAIC's software development capabilities and code quality.

"The release of DeepSeek-R1 has further enhanced model inference capabilities, making it particularly well-suited for coding tasks," said the director of Joyson Electronics' AI team. "We immediately deployed DeepSeek-R1 locally and integrated it into JAIC, significantly boosting performance in code-related tasks."

In addition to integrating outstanding AI models, Joyson Electronics is now developing a Coding Agent, exploring the evolution from an AI coding assistant to an AI-powered software engineer. The company aims to continuously enhance efficiency and quality in automotive software development, particularly in autonomous driving, smart cockpits, and intelligent connectivity.
