China to map out more policies for NEV development
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- At the 2018 China EV100 Forum held last weekend in Beijing, several officials from different government departments made clear that the government won’t weaken the support for the development of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and instead plans to introduce more measures to stimulate the development of the segment.
In recent years, China’s NEV industry has seen such a booming development that the potential policy change has received a lot attention.
Miao Wei, minister of Industry and Information Technology, said that NEV subsidy had to change. It is better to adjust the policy in phases than changing the policy at a time. “The government should offer tax incentives, enforce the regulation on NEV subsidies, better the NEV supervision information platform and improve the running safety of NEVs.”
Lin Nianxiu, vice chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, pointed out at the forum that it is essential to clear and regulate the NEV industry and optimize the structure of the industry. The management of NEV investment programs needs improving and it is necessary to build a marketized, codified and effective incentive mechanism.
Liu Xiaoming, vice minister of the Ministry of Transport, said that his department will work with other departments to formulate and implement differentiation policies for the application of NEVs as well as improve the related supporting infrastructure. In accordance with the national NEV development strategy, his department will continue to take NEV’s development as an important means to realize green transportation.
As to the problems in charging infrastructure, Liu Baohua, deputy head of the National Energy Administration (NEA), noted that NEA will cooperate with other relevant departments to promote the innovative development in the business mode, core technologies and service platform of the charging infrastructure industry.
Wan Gang, minister of Science and Technology, stated that the government should continue to improve the policy innovation and ensure the policy continuity. The sales quota of electric vehicles should be expanded in the future and it is advisable to promote electric vehicles’ application in public transportation field.
