Car and City: May 2022 registrations of XPeng models

In May 2022, the monthly registrations of XPeng's three mass-produced models amounted to 9,954 units, surging 74% year on year, while also jumping 11.7% month on month, according to data compiled by Gasgoo Auto Research Institute (GARI).

In terms of May registrations of China's domestically-built new energy passenger vehicle (NEPV) models, XPeng ranked ninth among all auto brands and was credited the second runner-up among Chinese indigenous NEV startups.

For the first five months of this year, XPeng's new vehicle registrations added up to 53,520 units, soaring 130% from the previous year.

With 4,086 units registered in May, the P7 was still the startup's biggest sales contributor. It ranked 25th among all made-in-China NEPV models by May registrations.

As for regional distribution, Foshan, Chengdu, and Guangzhou were the top 3 cities in China by May registrations of the XPeng P7, while Shenzhen ranked eighth. Both Beijing and Shanghai failed to enter the top 10 cities list.

There were 3,671 P5s registered in May, representing a 3.7% month-on-month growth. As of May 2022, the cumulative registrations of the XPeng P5 amounted to 25,588 units.

Foshan topped other cities in China by May registrations of the P5. Besides, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Wuhan, and Suzhou all had over 200 P5s registered last month. Among the top 10 cities by the P5 registrations in May, four were provincial capitals, namely Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Wuhan, and Chengdu.

The registrations of the XPeng G3 jumped 14.2% from a year ago to 2,197 units in May, 99.8% of which were contributed by the G3i. The retail and fleet registrations of the G3 stood at 2,014 and 183 units in May respectively.

Foshan also ranked highest among Chinese cities by May registrations of the G3. Guangzhou ranked fifth, outselling Shenzhen by only 1 G3. The top 10 cities list didn't include Beijing and Shanghai either.
